Today Wall Street recommenced trading with U.S. equities slipping a bit, after the hurricane Sandy forced Wall Street to close for two days. Business activity in the U.S. contracted in October for a second month, according to a report today, following yesterdays data that showed home prices gained by the most in two years.

European equities slipped after mixed corporate earnings report, pressured by heavyweight British oil and gas firm BG Group, which announced no production growth next year. Forty-four percent of European companies have so far missed expectations in the current quarter, according to Thomson Reuters.

The DJ30 closed at 13,096.46, declining 10.75 points (-0.08%), SPX500 closed at 1,412.16 declining 1.03 points (+0.02%) and the NASDAQ100 closed at 2,647.92, declining 17.91 points (-0.67%) in today’s trading.

The CAC40 closed at 3,429.27, declining 30.17 points (-0.87%), FTSE100 closed at 5,782.70, declining -67.2 points (-1.15%) and DAX40 closed at 7,260.63, declining 23.77 points (-0.33%).

Apple Inc. (AAPL) stock fell to a three months low of $587.70, after opening at $594 per share, the first time the company has traded below the $600 mark in over two months. This came in after the CEO Tim Cook announced the new change in management, which investors responded to in a skeptical manner due to doubts about the current leadership. The iPhone maker recently launched multiple product updates, including an unexpected new iPad lineup, only 7 months after the launch of the Ipad 3. In addition, Apple Inc. (AAPL) also provided a weaker outlook for the December quarter, further fueling investor skepticism over the company’s ability to deliver according to expectations.
