Daily Equity Prices and Market Overview 08.10.2012
On Monday both European and U.S. indices fell as investors awaited the start of what many investors expect will be a weak earnings season, additionally a modest report on the outlook for Asian growth dampened investor sentiment and kept markets within their recent trading range. Economic worries began after the World Bank sliced forecasts for the East Asia and Pacific region, saying the slowdown in China could worsen, emphasizing concerns about the prospects for the global economy.
The DJ30 closed at 13,583.65, declining 26.50 points (-0.19%), SPX500 closed at 1,455.88 declining 5.05 points (-0.35%) and the NASDAQ100 closed at 2,786.92, declining 25.02 points (-0.89%) in today’s trading.
The CAC40 closed at 3,406.53, declining 50.51 points (-1.46%), FTSE100 closed at 5,841.74, declining 29.28 points (-0.50%) and DAX40 closed at 7,291.21, declining -106.66 points (-1.44%).
Facebook Inc (FB) has been hit by a $15 billion lawsuit as it is being accused of secretly tracking the internet activity of its users after they log off. According to the company all allegations must be dismissed as the subscribers has not clarified how they were harmed. Trough the US Wiretap Act users can claim damages amounting to as much as $100 per infringement per day. The allegations against Facebook Inc (FB) combine 21 privacy lawsuits against the company into a single, class-action suit.
