Daily Equity Prices and Market Overview 12.10.2012

Today European and U.S stocks fell as investors were cautious about what is expected to be a weak earnings season. Also weak global demand has heightened concerns over corporate earnings growth. The euro gained against the dollar as latest developments suggest that Spain continues contemplating the possibility of a bailout request as it is seen positive for the euro as the European Central Bank’s could finally activate the bond-buying program in order to lower borrowing costs in indebted economies of the euro zone.
The DJ30 closed at 13,328.85, gaining 2.46 points (+0.08%), SPX500 closed at 1,428.59 declining 4.25 points (-0.30%) and the NASDAQ100 closed at 2,720.14, gaining 0.93 points (+0.03%) in today’s trading.
The CAC40 closed at 3,389.08, declining 24.64 points (-0.72%), FTSE100 closed at 5,793.32, declining 36.43 points (-0.62%) and DAX40 closed at 7,232.49, declining 49.21 points (-0.68%).
Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) is said to release an updated version of Yahoo.com soon. Marissa Mayer, who was responsible for Google Inc. (GOOG) original design before becoming becoming Yahoo CEO, has updated the Yahoo.com webpage only 2 months after becoming Yahoo CEO. According to ComScore, there is traffic of 170 million visitors at yahoo.com every day. It is said the page is going to get more personalized and customizable as well.
