On Tuesday European and U.S indices slipped, edging lower for a second straight day as investors looked for reasons to extend a recent rally in the midst of signs of slowing economic growth. The continued reluctance from Spain to seek a sovereign bailout kept the country’s implied borrowing costs high, while doubts grew over its willingness to request for an aid package, raised new concerns about Europe’s debt crisis.

Spain has yet to request what would be a politically unpopular EU/IMF bailout, which is a requirement for the European Central Bank to start buying bonds of any troubled euro zone government.

The DJ30 closed at 13,553.18, gaining 11.69 points (0.09%), SPX500 closed at 1,459.32 declining 1.87 points (-0.13%) and the NASDAQ closed at 2,857.38, gained 0.94 points
(0.03%) in today’s trading.

The CAC40 closed at 3,512.69, declining 41.00 points (-1.15%), FTSE100 closed at 5,868.16, declining 25.36 points (-0.43%) and DAX40 closed at 7,347.69, declining 56.00 points (-0.76%).

Google Inc. (GOOG) recently acquired a company called Nik Software, a 17 year old company, which specializes in advanced photo editing. The acquisition will allow Google to give advanced photo editing features, which will likely bolster Google+ by bringing in online photo editing tools. By acquiring Nik Software, Google might have strengthened its position to compete against Facebook and others in the social media space. Google Inc. (GOOG) closed at 718.28, gaining 8.30 points (1.17%).


Apple Inc. (AAPL)
the most valuable company in U.S. continued its rise as consumers sign up for the new iPhone. Its shares, up more than 70 percent so far this year, reached an all-time high and topped $702. Today Apple Inc. (AAPL) closed at 701.91, gaining 2.13 points (0.30%).
