U.S. stock markets were mixed on Wednesday, as investors were disappointed after a report showed that new home sales unexpectedly dropped in June from a 2-year high. Meanwhile, E.U. equities also struggled for traction as investors’ worries persist over the Eurozone’s future; borrowing costs in Spain continue to rise, business confidence in Germany continues to deteriorate, and Greece’s future in the hands of the Troika are all driving sentiment.
Despite sentiment, the Euro rallied, regaining five days of losses after European Central Bank policymaker Ewald Nowotny said he could see grounds for giving the Eurozone bailout fund a banking license.

The DJ30 closed at 12,676.05, gaining 58.73 points (0.47%), the SPX500 closed at 1,337.89, declining -0.42 points (-0.03%) and the NASDAQ closed at 2,549.20 declining 18.26 points (-0.71%) in today’s trading.

The CAC40 closed at 3,081.74, gaining 7.06 points (0.23%), the FTSE100 closed at 5,498.32 declining -0.91 points (-0.02%) and the DAX40 closed at 6,406.52 gaining 16.11 points 0.25%).

Apple Inc (AAPL) stumbled today as the company’s 3rd quarter results missed market expectations due to disappointing iPhone sales and a weak European economy. Apple’s stock lost 4.32 % to $572.04.

Google Inc. (GOOG) has added another company into its portfolio of online companies. The search giant’s latest acquisition is Sparrow a popular Mac OS X and iOS email client. Google’s stock gained 0.07 % to $607.99.
