European and U.S. stock markets climbed after the ECB president, Mario Draghi, announced that the central bank would do whatever it takes to hold the Eurozone together, and support Spain and Italy even though their borrowing costs have reached unsustainable levels. The strong signal sent yields on Spanish and Italian bonds lower.

The DJ30 closed at 12,887.93, gaining 211.88 points (+1.67%), the SPX500 closed at 1,360.02, gaining 22.13 points (+1.65%) and the NASDAQ closed at 2,584.85 gaining 35.65 points (+1.40%) in today’s trading.

The CAC40 closed at 3,207.12, gaining 125.38 points (+4.07%), the FTSE100 closed at 5,573.16 gaining 74.84 points (+1.36%) and the DAX40 closed at 6,582.96 gaining 176.44 points (+2.75%).

Facebook (FB) shares were heading lower toward the close of Thursday’s trading day as investors speculate that first quarter earnings report would be below expectations after Zynga’s (ZNGA) quarterly results were well off estimates. Zynga had also announced a reduction in earnings forecast of 2012. The company’s current value has slipped nearly 70% from its December IPO price, priced at $10 a share. Zynga’s games, such as “Farmville” and “CityVille,” generated more than 1/10 of Facebook’s revenue last year, and Facebook’s (FB) own share prices were likely to be affected by these dismal results. After the bell, however, Facebook announced its revenue which grew by 32% to $1.18 billion in the second quarter, exceeding Wall Street’s expectations.
