Friday’s March CPI report revealed a sharp 0.9% monthly increase—the largest in four years—driven by the recent surge in gasoline prices. However, the annual rate of 3.3% was slightly better than the most dire forecasts, providing a "sigh of relief" rally for investors.
The March jobs report showed the U.S. economy added 178,000 jobs, far exceeding expectations, while the unemployment rate dipped to 4.3%.
Contrastingly, the final reading for Q4 2025 GDP was revised down to a meager 0.5%, confirming a significant economic stall during the recent government shutdown.
The week belonged to Industrials (+5.6%) and Technology, particularly AI-related infrastructure. Intel and CoreWeave were among the top performers, as investors bet on a rebound in business spending following the ceasefire.
