Coterra Energy Inc is an energy company involved in the production and marketing of oil and natural gas. Founded as Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation, the company was incorporated in 1989. After merging with Cimarex Energy, it is now known as Coterra Energy, Inc. Operating in the US, Coterra has its headquarters in Houston, Texas.
Coterra’s customers include the industrial sector, power plants, gas and oil buyers, and utility suppliers. It operates mainly in the Permian Basin, the Marcellus Shale, and the Anadarko Basin. With a core acreage position of 234,000 net acres in the Permian Basin, the company is concentrating on the development of Upper Wolfcamp Shale, Bone Spring Shale, and Avalon Shale. In the Appalachian Basin where the Marcellus Shale is located, Coterra controls 175,000 net acres. In the Anadarko Basin, where the Woodford and Meremac Shales are being developed, the company holds an estimated 189,000 net acres. As of the end of 2020, Coterra Energy’s reserves have amounted to 362 MMBOE from the Permian Basin, 13.7 TCFE from the Marcellus Shale, and 169 MMBOE from the Anadarko Basin.
