Liberty Media Formula One Corp A dates back to 1950 and is a global motorsports and media business, which owns interests in a broad range of media, communications and entertainment businesses. In 2017, Liberty Media acquired Formula 1, the iconic global motorsports business, at a cost of $8bn, along with some commercial rights with respect to the F1 World Championship, a major annual motorsports competition. The firm is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado.
The Formula One Group is a motorsports business that essentially consists of the firm’s wholly owned subsidiary Formula 1, along with other minority investments, including an interest in Liberty Media Acquisition Corporation and an intergroup interest in the Braves Group which owns the Atlanta Braves, a Major League Baseball club, as well as some of the Atlanta Braves’ minor league clubs and associated real estate projects.
The firm also owns Liberty Media Acquisition Corporation, which is a blank check company, and the investment fund, Liberty Technology Venture Capital, LLC. The Series A Liberty Formula One common stock is traded on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the stock ticker FWONA.
