𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 🤔 The $SPX500 has gone almost straight up for eight weeks. Same story on $NSDQ100. Small caps in $RTY trailing, but joining. Tech, AI and space-adjacent names doing the heavy lifting. Strong economy? Sort of. Inflation's sticky, rates are still elevated, cheap oil no more, and AI-driven job displacement is starting to show in the data. Earnings? Solid, but not "melt-up" solid. So what actually lit the fuse? 🔥 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝘁 🗓️ Late March: Market bottoms. 🗓️ April Fool's Day: SpaceX confidentially files its S-1 with the SEC. 🗓️ April to May: Melt-up. Dips bought in minutes, volatility crushed. 🗓️ 7 May: A single-day record $2.6tn in S&P 500 call options trades 🗓️ 20 May: SpaceX's public S-1 drops. 🗓️ 12 June (reported target): SPCX lists on Nasdaq. Up to $75bn raise, ~$1.75tn target valuation. Set to be the largest IPO on record. Coincidence? 🤷 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗲𝘇𝗲, 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 Investors buy lots of call options. The dealers who sold them have to keep buying the underlying to stay hedged. Prices rise, they buy more. Repeat. It's a feedback loop, and at scale it can move the whole index. 𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 Looks to me like sophisticated “smart” money built a friendly runway into the biggest listing of the decade. Not illegal. Not even unusual. Just very, very well timed. Launch countdown is on. Beware the other side: the same mechanics that pushed it up can pull it down hard once the calls expire or the IPO disappoints. Beware the hype. Melt-ups rarely end politely. 📉 Personally, I'm watching closely, sizing carefully, and not chasing, taking limited positions. Portfolio up 4.7% this month as of today nevertheless.
