Some good news today of the two week ceasefire and talks have lifted our portfolio 2% and will be more once the US markets open. We should have a better idea of how the portfolio is now positioned by early next week. I have made efforts to contain the risk while still leaving opportunity for recovery (not just selling off everything). The YTD loss is obviously the first target to recover from, and it should be under 3% by tomorrow just from looking at todays gain. There should definitely be some further recovery going into next week as long as peace is going in the right direction. The commodities managed etf position $CTA (Simplify Managed Futures Strategy ETF) will drop as this is essentially going long on oil right now but its worth keeping as it is long/short and will catch the trend eventually and gain back if there is clear trend for cheaper oil. Europe stocks have taken a battering and I'll be carefully looking over all positions over the next few week to see if they still represent value, some might bounce up to a price I'd prefer to exit at. It's been a frustrating time for stock pickers and active managers as the US indexes have really not performed that badly, and seeking value and diversification elsewhere has been punished apart from some very narrow exceptions. The next crisis is always different to the last one, this is the one certainty. Thanks again to all my copiers, I'm pleased to have the confidence of so many of you in times like these.
