On reflection, I might have put the stop loss a little tight but hindsight is always 20/20. I still kind of like the idea of shorting Builders as it continues the trend of smacking its head against the 20 MA, but one thing experience has taught me is to stick to my initial play. I entered a trade Iโ€™d thought would be favourable but had a stop loss in case I was wrong. Iโ€™ll stick with it. Iโ€™m not going to be chasing what-ifs. On to the next opportunity! Because Buffett and his crew know what theyโ€™re about. But also. ๐Ÿ‘‰On the technical analysis side, Berkshire has been contracting since the end of February while tech has soared. What I see on the 1-day charts is that itโ€™s been pulled so taut that it needed a catalyst to either kick it up or drop it down: this AI sell-off may have been just that catalyst. Anyway, I increased my long exposure for 2 reasons: โœ… I believed money was going to rotate out of tech (even if for just a short pullback) โœ… The sensible place for that money to go is into utilities, consumer staples, energy, insurance, etc., which Berkshire Hathawayโ€™s operations encapsulate. โš ๏ธ Now technical analysis can very much just be the trader's equivalent of reading tea leaves. Time will tell if Iโ€™m wrong, but my target is $450. ๐€๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฌ๐š๐ฆ๐ž ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ž, ๐ˆ ๐จ๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐ž๐ ๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐  ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง $RGA (Reinsurance Group America Inc) Technically, theyโ€™ve not been contracting like Berkshire, but over the last month the price has been bouncing off its 50-day MA. Of course, I donโ€™t base decisions solely on TA. โœ… Reinsurance Group of America are an incredible insurance company and my favourite thing about them is their global reach. Last month they reported their earnings showing a ridiculous increase in net premiums collected. A 58.8% growth compared to the first quarter of 2023, led the way by their EMEA region operations. And hey, Zachโ€™s Rank also puts them at a strong buy - whatโ€™s not to like?
