Not all of our stocks performed well โ€“ two of our consumer stocks performed poorly. elf Beauty was down 5.8% (but itโ€™s gained 81% in the last 6 months, so a small pullback isnโ€™t too worrying) and McDonaldโ€™s declined 3.1% (itโ€™s only up 9% in the last 6 months so is one of our poorer performers). I try to minimise the amount of trading, so there were only a few changes in March. Buying and holding high quality companies means that portfolio turnover should be relatively low. I reduced Fortinet and LVMH, and increased Microsoft and Novo Nordisk. Our best performer was Nvidia again, up 13.9% (itโ€™s been our best performer for the past 5 months), and has become almost 19% of the portfolio. If it continues its outperformance, I may consider taking some profit, but I generally like to let our winners grow and cut our losers. Motorola (up 7.5%) and Novo Nordisk (up 6.7%) also contributed significantly to Marchโ€™s performance. Itโ€™s worth mentioning Safran, one of our much smaller positions, was up 8.7%. Our portfolio is very concentrated, with our top 10 holdings now worth 79.3% (previously 77.5%) of the total. This can lead to higher volatility in returns. Lower diversification is a higher risk strategy but can also lead to higher returns.
