We’re kicking off Monday as usual with our weekly update – and this one’s shaping up to be an exciting one: the ongoing earnings season is hitting right at the heart of our portfolio. Several of our holdings will be reporting this week – led, of course, by our largest position: $RHM.DE (Rheinmetall AG) 📉 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 – 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗦 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 Most global markets closed last week in the red – nearly all major indices posted weekly losses. Nearly all? Not quite! In the U.S., retail traders continue to defy the dip, buying every pullback they can get, much to the frustration of institutional investors who keep hedging with put options. 🤝 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗽 & 𝗫𝗶 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 The latest rebound had several drivers. Even before the week began, early talks ahead of the Trump–Xi meeting hinted at a possible thaw in trade relations. And indeed, some small but symbolically important progress followed: China rolled back certain export restrictions on rare earths, the U.S. paused the threatened 100% tariffs, and both sides offered minor concessions – China promising more soybean imports, the U.S. cutting fentanyl-related tariffs by 10 percentage points. Hardly a breakthrough, but at least a pause in the escalation. 💬 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 – 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗸𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 Fed Chair Jerome Powell also added some fuel to the market conversation. After the widely expected 25-basis-point rate cut, he surprised investors by stressing that another cut in December was far from guaranteed. U.S. yields reacted immediately, with 10-year Treasuries climbing back above the 4% mark. 💼 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗢𝗻 – 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗦𝗼 𝗙𝗮𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 Roughly 70% of the S&P 500’s market cap has now reported, and so far, results have been decent. Earnings per share for Q3 are tracking around +8% year-over-year, slightly ahead of consensus. Goldman’s view is a bit more conservative at +6%, but such differences are well within the normal range. 🏛️ 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 & 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼 – 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗺 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 On the macro side, things look quieter this week. The U.S. jobs report, originally due last Friday, is still delayed because of the ongoing government shutdown. Politically, there are tentative signs that some centrist Democrats might drop their opposition to a temporary funding bill through the end of November – but nothing is confirmed yet. 💥 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 – 𝗧𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 If the macro front is calm, our portfolio definitely isn’t. A total of ten companies are reporting this week, including: IAC, Uber, Arista, Angi Homeservices, Duolingo, Lyft, Fastly, Rheinmetall, Airbnb, and Warner Bros. Discovery. That lineup promises plenty of movement – and with $RHM.DE leading the pack, this could be a pivotal week for us. 📈 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 – 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 With November kicking off, we’re entering what is statistically the strongest stretch of the market year.
