The S&P 500 ($SPX500) ended the month with a gain of 3.58% and the Nasdaq 100 ($NSDQ100) gained 4.22%. The European markets did not fare as well, with the French CAC 40 ($FRA40) flat and the German DAX ($GER40) down 0.3% on the month. We have seen increased volatility during the month โ€“ the risk score for my portfolio increased to 6 and is something Iโ€™m conscious of as I had targeted a score of 5 or below. I donโ€™t want to sacrifice long term gains for a reduction in short term volatility, so I havenโ€™t made any changes on the back of this increase in risk score. I believe that the increased volatility in the market itself is a large factor, rather than my specific stock selection. There were a few minor tweaks to position sizes during the month but nothing major to call out in terms of changes to the portfolio. Iโ€™m still waiting for the right opportunity to deploy the cash held within the portfolio and still intend to use it to increase the size of many of our existing positions. Iโ€™ve already shared a link to the monthly factsheet I produce in a separate post.
