Dear copiers, January ended and we closed up by 1.14%, keeping the risk score firmly at 1. I am very happy with this result and the stability in context of the large whipsawing we saw in equity markets throughout. Keeping volatiliy low in a high volatility environment is extremely important to me and my trading strategy and eToro's risk score seemlessly fits into this. Slow and steady wins the race. In a future post I will explain more on how important risk is to a portfolio, and how you should interpret the risk score. A lot of things are happening in the world, both from a macro-economic perspective and a political one. President Trump was inaugurated on the 20th, and has immediately initiated a lot of policy changes and set in motion his visions. Treasury rates have continued grinding higher, and the Fed paused the lowering of its Federal Funds Rate, while the European Central Bank continued dropping its rates. The perception of the tech market with regards to AI took a hit with the global release of DeepSeek. Markets are not quite sure yet how to digest everything, and the whipsaw moves firmly fit into this context. Earnings season is now also well underway and so far has mostly been good with companies showing continued growth and pushing up their outlook for 2025 and beyond. I invite you to check out my IG instagram.com/investbites where I now give weekly snap video overviews of current events impacting financial markets. Uno, Dos, Tres, Cata!
