Walmart is especially key, as it reflects direct consumer spending by U.S. households. That same Thursday, we will also get data on jobless claims and home sales. Friday will be the most important day, as fourt quarter GDP will be released, showing how strongly the economy has grown. In addition, the PCE inflation report (the Fed's preferred measure) will be published. These data points will help the Federal Reserve determine whether it can soon lower interest rates or keep them at their current level. -Carlos
