𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝘁? Could it be that, contrary to the rhetoric of recent months, we may not have interest rate cuts for the United States this year? Still a remote possibility. Unlike expectations from a few weeks ago, where cuts were expected to begin in July, totaling 3 cuts of 0.25% by the end of the year, it is now anticipated that the first cut will only occur from the September meeting and should have, at most, 2 decreases by the end of the year. If we look at the two-year US Treasury rates, they traded this week at an implied rate of 5%, reflecting only two interest rate cuts over the next two years. So, where do we stand? At this point, nobody knows, but all of this is contingent upon the latest inflation data, which does not show the intended trajectory. This week, Jerome Powell confirmed that inflation is not progressing as desired, warning that it may take longer than expected to reach the 2% target. Thus, the Fed's rhetoric has shifted to a more cautious tone. The truth is that the economy demonstrates strength in growth, employment, and, above all, consumption. This resilience, in the first phase, was supported by the excess savings from pandemic distributions. In the second phase, with those savings having been spent, the use of credit has been increasing. When we analyze the delinquency rate on credit card loans, we observed that it is already at the highest level in the last 14 years. Therefore, uncertainty is high. We have lagging indicators indicating the weakening of the American economy, although they are slow to reflect in consumption and economic growth. Faced with all this uncertainty for the coming months, it is important to make a good evaluation of the type of assets we are going to invest in. This analysis should be considered in any economic cycle, but it should be given special attention in an environment of uncertainty like the one we are currently experiencing. This doesn't mean we shouldn't invest; on the contrary, it is in times of uncertainty that great investment opportunities arise, requiring, of course, a thorough analysis of the asset. 💰 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐲𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 💰 Consider starting to copy my investments if you are looking for a reliable investor to manage your investments.
