Today the market went further into overbought territory and so I reduced stocks exposure. I trimmed many positions by 50%, and closed some positions completely which did not meet valuation criteria, following my trading rules for this scenario. This means we're now 72% invested in stocks, with the remainder in $IB01.L (iShares $ Treasury Bond 0-1yr UCITS ETF) , as a cash portion for when we next get entry cues for stocks. That's from a peak of 100% invested in stocks. We're now at around 10% profit for the year, which is ahead of schedule to match last year's returns of around 25%. With 28% cash, I'm now happy to see the market fall, in which case I'd get to spend that cash. I'm also happy to see the market rise, in which case I'll further trim or close positions that meet my exit rules. The year is going smoothly so far, as we saw a typical fall followed by a strong bounce. Many of the stocks bought in the last 2 months are in great profit, or have been closed in good profit. Of course, people have been making a lot of noise about the reasons for the drop and the rise, (Strait of Hormuz, Trump, etc.) but to me it makes very little difference, as the market rises and falls regardless of the noise.
