Trade review of yesterday 14/09/23 $SMTC (Semtech Corp.) Started the day with a sizable position which was closed for a nice profit. All positions together were a profit of over 3% of the account's overall balance. $CBRL (Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc.) went into the day with a position in Cracker Barrel, TA had good indicators for a lift up and we got it in the morning after meeting expectations on earning. With these wins, I had the chance to take some more risky trades: $WEWKQ Took the first position a bit too early in the day, the spread was way too high and should have waited for it to come down a bit. Scaled into the position quite a bit during the small run-down early in the day. My TA said it would have a run up what it did, I was hoping it would break through a previous resistance that it didn't. I made a mistake and didn't take profit at that stage and let it run. TA had turned to the sell side after the small run and I should have closed the position but I didn't. So this trade is a loser. Down ~1.4% on this trade, which especially hurts as I could have called it quits with another nice ~1% gain in the run-up. Lesson learned. $ML.US (Moneylion Inc) This one just didn't have enough volume, the spread on this was too high and I shouldn't have taken the trade really, even though it was looking quite promising and on the hourly and daily chart I can see the potential of the short working out in a longer time frame. But I wanted to free up the capital for a more lucrative trade. So closed the trade at near break even with a ~ -0.4% loss. $EGAN (eGain Corp) This one I wanted as much of my trading capital as possible. This stock has been getting hammered for a long time now. On the daily chart, MACD is on the uptrend and about to go above the signal line, The histogram is showing signs of seller weakening. We are trading the low low end of the Bollinger Bands as well. Other indicators are showing that this stock was primed to go, but it needed a catalyst. Which we got with the earnings after market close. The stock rose 13.83% after hours, which is more than expected and could come in lower in the premarket. Will be following this closely on the market open. There were a few tiny trades in the day that fizzled out really quickly with no real impact. Well long story short I will be sticking to my maximum of 3 trades a day strategy again as that has shown the best results for me. I went into the trades yesterday without much prep time. There were for sure better opportunities. Finished the day with a gain of 1.51% The long-term portion of the portfolio is doing fine. $NSDQ100 is pulling up which I can see reflected in the $FNGU Finished the day with a gain of 1.51% and very very close to the 30% a year gain. Will be writing another update after market close later today, Happy trading :)
