𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠, 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 February 2020. Days before the pandemic hit, I invested my savings for the first time on eToro. During a few days, everything looked good. But after that, massive losses came to my portfolio: about 20% in a month and a half. 𝐈 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭. 𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭. Despite that, I kept investing. I had studied a lot about the companies I owned and the strategy I was following. I knew it was the right course of action to make my money grow. I could have sold and left the stock market forever. After all, nobody knew what was to happen in the world. But if I had done that, that would have been a mistake. The fall stopped, eventually, and I finished 2020 up more than 30%. Fast forward to 2025, after many ups and downs, the portfolio has returned more than 150%. But now, a similar crash is happening. It looks like the end of the world. I know. I’ve been through it. But it is not. This too shall pass. In a few years times, we will remember this moment like an opportunity to buy. So make sure to stay invested, invest more if you can, and stay patient.
