We still have year-to-date positive return at the time of writing...🥳 The biggest negative sentiment in the market right now revolves around the potential conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. This situation has raised concerns about possible disruptions to global oil supply and the risk of rising inflation. Such geopolitical tensions have made investors more cautious and have contributed to higher market volatility. However, over the past three to four trading sessions, there have already been several occasions where markets started the day in negative territory but eventually turned positive by the close. This once again shows how difficult it is to consistently time the market. The recent price movements clearly illustrate how volatile the market can be. $OIL prices briefly surged to around $120 due to supply fears but later fell back to about $83 as the situation stabilized. Individual stocks are also experiencing significant fluctuations. For example, $MU (Micron Technology, Inc.) was trading around $350 just two days ago and has now rebounded to approximately $410 . $NVDA (NVIDIA Corporation) also showed similar volatility. Despite reporting quarterly results that exceeded expectations, the stock initially declined and is now fluctuating around the $180 to $190 range. Software companies such as $MSFT (Microsoft) , $GOOG (Alphabet) and $META (Meta Platforms Inc) have also been hit quite heavily this year. However, in my opinion, their competitive advantages remain strong and they are unlikely to be replaced easily in the near future. Our core principle remains the same, which is to carefully manage downside risk while positioning the portfolio to benefit during bullish market cycles. During periods of uncertainty like this, patience is extremely important. Gradually adding funds during market volatility can often be one of the most effective long term investment strategies.
