Hey everyone, I wanted to address a question that I often receive about the minimum amount required to copy a trader on eToro. Currently, the minimum to copy someone on eToro is $200. However, you may have noticed that some traders recommend a higher amount to copy them, such as $1000 or $500. This recommendation is based on the minimum trade sizes of the traders you are copying. Let me explain. When you copy a trader, the minimum trade size that can be opened in your portfolio as a result of the copy is $1. This means that if the trader you are copying makes a trade using 1% of their portfolio, the system will automatically make you make a trade on your account using 1% of the amount you have copied them with. For example, if the trader you are copying has $1000 in their portfolio and they make a 1% trade, it will be a $10 trade. If you have copied them with $200, the system will automatically make you make a trade on your account using 1% of $200, which is $2. This means that in order to fully copy a trader, you need to ensure that the amount you have copied them with is enough to cover their minimum trade sizes. To do this, you can check the trader's profile and go to their actual portfolio to see the percentage of their account size that they are using for each trade. Then, you can use a simple calculation to work out how much money you would need to copy them in order to cover their minimum trade sizes. The formula for that is $1*100 / smallest trade size (%). In the case of our @PerpetualIncome portfolio, our smallest trade size is 0.2% of the portfolio. So, using the above formula, $1*100/0.2 = $500. I hope this helps to clarify why I recommend a minimum copy size of $500. This amount ensures that you can fully replicate the trades of the traders you are copying that work with a 0.2% minimum trade size, allowing you to benefit from their strategies without missing out on any trades due to insufficient funds.
