COPIER UPDATE – AUGUST 2024 PERFORMANCE: The portfolio gained 2.09% in August, and has now gained 11.96% for the year. I mentioned in my last monthly update that I bought 3 new stocks for the portfolio. I am pleased to report that all three of these are up since I bought them, with Unilever $UL.US (Unilever PLC-ADR) up 5.7%, Philip Morris $PM (Philip Morris International Inc) up 6.6%, and Lockheed Martin $LMT (Lockheed Martin Corporation) up 4.0%. I also sold out of Monster Beverage in the month, as the latest quarterly results were disappointing, with revenue not increasing compared to the previous quarter. With the sale proceeds I bought a small holding in Mercado Libre $MELI (MercadoLibre) , a fast growing e-Commerce company operating in South America, Central America, and Mexico. Their latest results grew quarterly revenue at 16% i.e. much more impressive. Going forward I am keeping the portfolio well balanced, with a 36% weighting in our Short-Dated Bond ETF. This should give us good protection on the downside if markets start to perform badly, whilst the rest of the portfolio should keep delivering gains if markets continue to perform strongly.
