Although a fewer number of dividends are paid in June (8) relative to May (11) thanks to the portfolio weightings and yields of the particular stocks, the total amount received will be similar. This month our portfolio receives dividends from the following holdings: $LGEN.L (Legal & General) - 4th June $ADM.L (Admiral Group) - 5th June $BBOX.L (Tritax Big Box REIT Plc) -12th June $O (Realty Income Corp) - 15th June $BP.L (BP) - 26th June $ULVR.L (Unilever) - 26th June $HSBA.L (HSBC Holdings) - 26th June $SHEL.L (Shell PLC) - 29th June $IMB.L (Imperial Brands PLC) - 30th June If you’ve been copying the portfolio before the ex-dividend dates for these holdings, the dividends will be credited to your Copy balance on the dates shown. Enjoy the payouts! 💰 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩 💸 Once again, I want to give notice of my regular monthly contribution which will arrive on Tuesday 9th June. This month's deposit will be similar to May's deposit, in the region of around 4% of the current portfolio balance. This will be the third month in a row of depositing above my long-term average of about 2%. As mentioned in previous posts, I have been upping my deposits recently to take as much advantage as possible of the discounts on offer whilst the uncertainty in the Middle-East continues. Sidenote 🗒 Recentlt, I've been increasing the portfolio's exposure to our holdings in house builders and property REITs in particular. I hope to do a deep dive on either of these sectors, or, perhaps a selected holding later this month - stay tuned! 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙝 𝙁𝘼𝙌❓️ Over the past several months, many of you have been in contact to ask about one particular aspect of your CopyTrading™ experience. Specifically, why large amounts of cash are sitting idle in your Copies of this portfolio, given that typically I hold less than 10% cash. I have had cash holdings reported to me in the region of 10-60%, which clearly is unrepresentative of the portfolio and means you, as a Copier, are less invested in the portfolio than you might have expected. Because so many of you have raised this problem with me I decided to take the question to eToro directly in search of a solution. I can't paste the entire response here, as it won't fit into the post, but I'll summarise the following key points from eToro along with my understanding and tips to avoid the issue: The CopyTrader™ Algorithm is highly complex and its application also varies from Copier-to-Copier depending on numerous factors including but not limited to local regulatory restrictions, instrument availability in the client's jurisdiction, account settings, investment amount, and individual account limitations. If you are a Copier that believes your cash is unduly high in your Copy of my portfolio, and it is not caused by any of the issues pointed out below, 𝙙𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝘾𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮. They will be able to analyse your account and Copy position and advise exactly what your specific issue is. The issues that I know cause the most amount of Copy misalignment and large cash holdings👇 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘾𝙤𝙥𝙮 𝘼𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩 Make sure your Copy amount is sufficient. To make sure all holdings get Copied, $500 seems like the absolute minimum, but closer to $1000 is better. 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨 Try to open/add/reduce your Copy amount only when the London Stock Exchange is open: Mon-Fri 08:00-16:30 GMT/BST. 95%+ of this portfolio's holdings are listed in London, so any actions taken when this market is closed can result in a Copy misalignment. 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙩 𝘼𝙫𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 Some assets may not be available in your region or are no longer available to new investors/Copiers. This is a less common issue, but some assets are not permitted in certain jurisdictions and eToro sometimes changes the availability of assets. The most recent example of this happening was $DEC.L (Diversified Energy Company PLC) which was a fairly large holding that eToro removed access to for new investors. I closed $DEC.L so that this misalignment would no longer apply. Hopefully the above helps address this question at least partially. I have asked eToro to update their help pages on this issue, with any luck we'll have some official guidance in the near future too.👍 If anyone has any other knowledge or tips/tricks to ensure accurate Copy alignment do drop a comment.
