🔔Mid Day Trading Update🔔 📅Wednesday 16/11/2022📅 🟢Bullish Activity🟢 $LOW (Lowe's Companies Inc) Shares are trading near a 3 month high this morning after the home improvement retailer reported Q3 earnings of $3.27 per share, excluding a pre-tax non-cash asset impairment charge of $2.1B related to its Canadian retail business $0.18 beat on revenue that rose 2.4% YOY to $23.48B above the $23.16B consensus as Q3 comparable same-store sales increased 2.2% YOY. The company raised its full-year 2023 EPS forecast to a range of $13.65-13.80 from $13.10-13.60 on revenue that is expected to come in a range of $97-98B above the $96.89B consensus. The November 18th 220.00 call being the highest volume contract. $ALC.ZU (Alcon Inc.) Also to the upside after the maker of eye care products reported Q3 earnings of $0.50 per share $0.01 beat on revenue that rose 0.8% YOY to $2.1B below the $2.13B consensus. The company narrowed its full year 2022 EPS guidance to a range of $2.20-2.25 from $2.20-2.30 and lowered its FY22 revenue guidance to a range of $8.5-8.7B from $8.6-8.8B. The November 18th 67.50 call being the highest volume contract. New 52-week highs: ( $AFL (Aflac Inc) + $0.66 to $70.89), ( $FSLR (First Solar, Inc.) - $1.15 to $158.48), ( $QSR (Restaurant Brands International Inc.) + $3.73 to $63.47) 🟢Notable Calls🟢 $IMAX (IMAX Corp) Some unusual activity seen as nine out of the top 10 highest volume contracts are calls. A couple of large blocks simultaneously traded on the January 2023 expiration earlier this morning: - 16.00 call open interest 28: A 2000 contract block was bought for $1.05 when the bid/ask spread was $0.35 x $1.10. -18.00 call open interest 10: A 2000 contract block was sold for $0.30 when the bid/ask spread was $0.20 x $0.60. Both of these blocks are new positions based on the respective open interest figures and suggests that the block trader believes that IMAX will close above the break-even price of $16.75 at expiration. 🔴Bearish Activity🔴 $TGT (Target Corp) Shares are under pressure this morning after the retail giant reported Q3 earnings of $1.54 per share $0.64 miss on revenue that rose 3.3% YOY to $26.12B below the $26.4B consensus as comparable same-store sales increased 2.7% YOY. The company forecasts that Q4 comparable same-store sales are expected to decline in the low single-digit percentages, compared to the +3.1% consensus. Target cited surging inflation and “dramatic changes” in consumer behavior for the weak holiday-quarter guidance. The November 18th 160.00 call being the highest volume contract. $AAP (Advance Auto Parts Inc) Also to the downside after the auto part retailer reported Q3 earnings of $2.84 per share $0.05 miss on revenue that rose 0.8% YOY to $2.64B below the $2.65B consensus as comparable same-store sales decreased 0.7% YOY. The company forecasts that FY22 EPS is expected to come in a range of $12.60-12.80 below the $13.01 consensus on revenue that is expected to come in a range of $11.00-11.20B compared to the $11.11B consensus. The November 18th 125.00 put being the highest volume contract. New 52-week lows: ( $HAS (Hasbro Inc) - $2.27 to $56.44), ( $PCRX (Pacira BioSciences Inc.) - $2.44 to $47.56) 🔴Notable Puts🔴 $T (AT&T Inc) Some unusual activity seen which primarily target the November 25th 18.00 put. Volume on this contract is 32879 with open interest at 1688, so the volume primarily represents new positioning. The transactions on this contract consisted of blocks that were being bought at the ask prices of $0.07, $0.08 and $0.09, which suggests bearish momentum.
