2025 YTD Portfolio Performance: My portfolio: 5.72% S&P500: 2.25% 7/6/25 Market Weekly Outlook: U.S. stocks recorded a second consecutive week of gains, led by strong performance in small-cap shares. The Russell 2000 Index climbed 3.19%, outpacing the Nasdaq Composite’s 2.18% rise and the Dow Jones’ 1.17% gain. All major indexes, including the S&P 500, are now in positive territory for the year. Technology stocks stood out, with continued investor enthusiasm around artificial intelligence. Contributing to the optimism was news of Meta Platforms signing a 20-year deal with Constellation Energy to support its AI infrastructure, as well as solid earnings reports from key tech companies. Despite the week’s gains, Thursday saw some market weakness, partly due to Tesla shares falling sharply amid a public dispute between CEO Elon Musk and President Trump. Wall Street ended the week on a high note Friday, with major indexes surging across the board as investors cheered a stronger-than-expected jobs report and easing tensions between Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Trade tensions between the U.S. and China resurfaced earlier in the week after critical comments from President Trump on social media. However, sentiment improved on Thursday when Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke by phone, which Trump described as having a “very positive” outcome. This helped calm some investor nerves about potential trade disruptions. On the economic front, May’s nonfarm payrolls report offered mixed signals. The U.S. added 139,000 jobs—slightly better than expectations but still reflecting a cooling trend in hiring. The unemployment rate held steady at 4.2%, where it has hovered since May. The report helped lift both stocks and Treasury yields on Friday. Looking ahead, all eyes will be on next week’s Federal Reserve updates and any movement on trade negotiations, both of which could shape the next leg of the market’s direction. That is all I could summarise about what happened in the stock market last week. Have a great weekend! $VOOV (Vanguard S&P 500 Value ETF)
