Comeback of the renewable/solar sector? Two recent reports really make my day: $S92.DE (SMA Solar Technology AG) and $AMRC (Ameresco Inc) are two stocks close to my heart, the latter being one of the first stocks at etoro I invested in. Maybe the price back then (end of 2022) was way too high, but I believed in the stock for all the years. The report for the 4th quarter was more than excellent, the outlook was great and the stock is up nearly 20 percent today, similar to today's report of $S92.DE Two more great report came from the small solar installation companies $SOL.US (Emeren Group Ltd-ADR) (mainly installing in the US) and $SCATC.OL (Scatec ASA) (mainly working in developing countries), the first stock doing well in the recent weeks, but the latter shares dropped a lot due to the general bad economic situation in the nordic countries. I still rate both a buy, with $SCATC.OL being highly undervalued. And finally, $FSLR (First Solar, Inc.) report came in quite positive as well, with their standalone thin film solar modules they are one of the few companies around having a moat, while the price is still attractive - and recently they reported a new world record in solar module efficiency. Buy and hold! Of course not all is rosy, the home solar suppliers $RUN (Sunrun Inc.) and co. are still facing difficulties, similar to $SHLS (Shoals Technologies Group Inc) who saw a drop in earnings and revenue and a difficult outlook. Interesting times, but for the better companies there is a bright, albeit shaky, future.
