AI WON’T JUST CHANGE THE WAY WE INVEST. It will redefine the role of the investor. Today I attended eToro’s product presentation. Sitting in the audience, I realized that the most important message wasn’t about a new feature or a new product. It was about the direction in which the entire investment industry is moving. For years, investment platforms have had a simple objective: giving investors access to financial markets. Today, that objective is evolving. eToro is moving beyond simply providing a platform to execute trades. Its vision is to build a financial ecosystem that supports investors throughout their entire investment journey. Artificial Intelligence is no longer being introduced as an additional feature. It is becoming an integral part of the investing experience. During the presentation, several innovations were introduced, all pointing in the same direction: • A new AI-first application. • Tori, an AI-powered assistant designed to provide personalized insights, proactive updates and support directly within the app, through WhatsApp and even on Apple Watch. • The ability to create multiple dedicated portfolios within the same account, separating long-term investments, thematic strategies or even portfolios for your children’s future. • AI Agents, configurable with specific goals and preferences to help investors build, monitor and manage portfolios. • eToro Edge, a new platform designed for more advanced investors with professional trading tools. • New solutions designed to help families, couples and friends manage wealth together. Looking at these innovations individually, they may appear to be simply new features. But when viewed together, they reveal something much more interesting. A strategic vision. The goal appears to be transforming an investment platform into a complete financial ecosystem, where Artificial Intelligence supports investors before, during and after every investment decision. And this is where, in my opinion, the most interesting reflection begins. Many people believe Artificial Intelligence will eventually replace investors. I believe something different will happen. The better AI becomes at analysing data, processing information and automating repetitive tasks, the more valuable uniquely human skills will become. The ability to build a long-term strategy. Risk management. Discipline. Patience. Critical thinking. The ability to distinguish noise from facts. And, above all, the willingness to take responsibility for every investment decision. Artificial Intelligence has the potential to make the investment process more efficient. It can help us process more information, monitor portfolios and reduce operational mistakes. However, its real value will ultimately depend on how it is implemented and how investors choose to use it. For this reason, I don’t believe the future of investing will be a competition between humans and Artificial Intelligence. I believe it will be a collaboration. Technology will continue to evolve. But strategy, risk management, discipline and independent judgment will remain the investor’s greatest responsibility. In my opinion, the real competitive advantage over the next decade won’t simply be having access to AI. It will be knowing how to use it while preserving independent thinking, critical judgment and the discipline to make rational decisions. Thank you to @YoniAssia and the entire @eToroTeam for an inspiring event and for sharing such an ambitious vision for the future of investing.
