Dear copiers and followers, I will be sharing an annual summary soon, but today I’d like to gloat a little. This portfolio is now five years old. I opened the account on February 23, 2021, added funds on the 26th, and opened most of the positions on March 1st. You can compare our performance directly against $SPX500 on my page. I’m happy to report that, across all timeframes, 1W, 1M, 6M, 1Y, and 5Ym we have beaten $SPX500. I’m not entirely sure how eToro calculates the exact figures, but even small outperformance versus the S&P 500 makes me proud of what this portfolio has achieved. We do not hold any hyperscalers, what I call AFATMAN (yes, I changed the order; this sounds better), which have dominated the news and many other portfolios over the past three years. We rarely modify the portfolio. Constantly buying and selling, trying to time the market, and living with that stress is not the answer. This is a restricted portfolio. Shariah compliance limits my options significantly. But is that really a bad thing? This performance suggests that “the halal lane has more than enough thrill; stepping into haram is simply unnecessary.” Please take this post as a light jest, I just want to enjoy this feeling for a moment.
