I think it is important to disconnect and be present as much as possible during these times and appreciate everything small thing that can be enjoyed. As for the portfolio, first the highlights: we are set to close another year positive, making it now three years of positive investments. Considering that, outside of this year, market conditions have been turbulent, this is no small feat. We have been consistently bringing in dividend payments while protecting and growing our capital in this time. Typically, the end of one year and start of another is a time for reflection: It is a prompt to reassess what you are doing, why you are doing it and whether or not it is working. I am currently reflecting on our own performance this year and, while I plan to share our actions going forward into the New Year, I thought I'd share some reflections now: Firstly, we did underperform the overall markets this year. As a whole though, markets were mixed. Driven in part by the growth of a few of the largest companies in the S&P, we missed out on some of the gains from these companies, and alternative investments such as cryptocurrencies. In part, this comes with the stratergy: it is the same reason we were able to miss out on a 20% drop in the markets in 2021. I don't plan on switching strategies to chase these gains, but it is important to reflect on the long term trends. Additionally, I have struggled somewhat to find the right balance in communication and posts this year, varying between multiple posts a day vs a single monthly update. To start the year, I will also be reflecting on this posting stratergy to provide a more consistent and better-structured method of communication. Finally, I want to take the time to thank all of you who have remained with me. My average copy duration is now 833 days (more than two years). I am thankful that you have stuck with me throughout this time and I hope I can continue to deliver positive years for you all. I hope you all have a great New Year and you will hear from me in January! ✈✈✈
