2025 YTD Portfolio Performance: My portfolio: 16.04% S&P500: 16.81% Weekly Performance Summary US stocks finished a volatile week with gains, as investors solidified bets on a Federal Reserve interest rate cut. The Nasdaq Composite outperformed, rising 0.9% for the week, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.5% and the S&P 500 added 0.3%, leaving both blue-chip indices within 1% of their all-time highs. The week’s sentiment was anchored by "Goldilocks" economic data. The Core PCE price index—the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge—rose 0.2% in September, keeping the annual rate just below 3%. Coupled with initial jobless claims falling to a three-year low of 191,000, the data suggested a resilient economy with stabilizing inflation, reinforcing expectations for a 25-basis-point rate cut at the Fed's upcoming December 10 meeting. The week featured a massive M&A headline: Netflix (NFLX) reportedly won a bidding war to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) in a deal valued at nearly $ 83 billion. WBD shares jumped 6% on the news, while Netflix slipped roughly 3% as investors digested the cost. In earnings, Salesforce (CRM) rallied after beating profit estimates and raising its outlook, driven by strong demand for its AI agents. Meta Platforms (META) also climbed over 3% following reports it plans to slash spending on its metaverse division by 30% to refocus resources. That is all I could summarise about what happened in the stock market last week. Have a great weekend! $VOOV (Vanguard S&P 500 Value ETF)
