📊 Market Update – A Breather The US–Iran ceasefire deal landed over the weekend, Brent has dropped below $83, and the S&P 500 near all-time high. Markets are exhaling. But the Strait of Hormuz still needs to be physically de-mined, the US and its allies disagree on how quickly shipping can resume, and previous ceasefire talks have broken down before. For our portfolio, nothing changes: ‣ The positions in $ASML.NV (ASML Holding NV), $GOOG (Alphabet), and $MU (Micron Technology, Inc.) have brought strong performance. ‣ Defence remains because a ceasefire doesn't unwind Europe's structural rearmament. In fact, Rheinmetall's order backlog has doubled. ‣ Energy ($SHEL) gave back some gains as oil fell, but lower oil removes the stagflation overhang that was weighing on everything else. Net positive for the broader portfolio. ‣ Cash at ~31% and ready to deploy selectively into high-conviction names. Looking ahead If the ceasefire holds, we rotate cash into offence, with caution. If it doesn't, our defensive sleeves are still in place. Either way, we're positioned. For our positioning, this remains a watching brief. The structural themes (supply-chain sovereignty, AI capex, European industrial policy) overlap meaningfully with our defence thesis.
