That got me wondering whether this luxury company was a good long-term investment. That's usually how I find my best ideas, watching what people around me are doing, eating, and wearing. Moncler was founded in France in 1952, originally making sleeping bags and tents for mountain workers. Years later, the company fell into crisis and was acquired by Remo Ruffini, who turned it around completely and built Moncler into one of a kind in the luxury world. In 2021, Stone Island joined the Moncler Group and is now the fastest-growing brand within it, posting 16% growth in Q4. Ruffini remains Chairman and creative director, and is the largest individual shareholder with around 16% of shares. He is stepping back from day-to-day operations, handing the CEO role to Bartolomeo "Leo" Rongone. Even in a tough economic environment, the group has held firm. Asia remains the primary market, representing 52% of Moncler's sales and 28.3% of Stone Island's, while EMEA accounts for 33.6% of Moncler's sales and 65.4% of Stone Island's. The company holds over โ‚ฌ1.4B in cash, which provides real strength during periods of uncertainty, and pays a dividend yield of around 2%. With a market cap of โ‚ฌ14B and revenues of โ‚ฌ3B, it trades at 22x PE, a reasonable price compared to peers like $RMS.PA (Hermes International) at 50x. The fundamentals back it up: a 5-year average ROCE of 22%, a revenue CAGR of 16.8%, and a gross margin of 78%. At these levels, I believe the price is fair for what the future holds. A company focused solely on outerwear might seem like a concentrated bet, but that misses the point. Moncler doesn't just operate in a niche, it owns its category. They are the reference. That is a moat. I've opened a small position. I'll increase it as the group continues to demonstrate the same values and execution that got it here. Growth and value at a fair price, held for the long term. That is the strategy. It doesn't change. $BTC $AUS200 $SPX500 $UK100
