This post is a strange glimpse into one of my most personal weekly rituals 🙂 As you may know I am a woman from Colombia who lived in Europe for many years. I have an Advanced Master’s in Financial Economics. I love macroeconomics, finance and investing. I love my family, traveling, hiking and cooking. I love all kinds of music. From rock, to electronic to reggaeton. And every Wednesday, without fail, I tune into my favourite podcast, New Heights. I am not sure if you heard about it. It is one of the most popular podcasts in the US, and it is about the NFL (American Football), entertainment, and day-to-day life. The hosts are Taylor Swift’s boyfriend and his brother. Why is this relevant for you, you might ask? Well, in my opinion, one of the most important qualities you need to search for in a person managing your money is curiosity. The search for more, the desire to expand and understand different realms. This podcast has taught me a lot about the American consumers. What is trendy, the new products, even expressions… One thing is reading the news on BBC or The Economist, but a different thing is hearing the nuances and the trends from people who live in the US, the most important economy in the world and where most companies we invest in are located. A bonus aspect: I have become quite knowledgeable in American Football, and for a woman that has worked in many male-oriented industries, being able to talk about sports has opened up more conversations than I can count (I also know about soccer and swimming, that is all thanks to my dad! ☺️). Curiosity and the willingness to learn more are key to making good investment decisions. Be curious. Keep your eyes open. Hope you are having a fantastic Wednesday!
