The market started optimistically with improved factory data and early trade deal news, but the mood shifted sharply mid-month as concerns over AI killing SAAS business model created panic among investors. Tariff policy uncertainty from the Trump administration layered additional pressure on sentiment throughout the month, and a hot inflation print late in February complicated the Fed's expected rate-cut path, triggering a broad selloff into month-end. ๐™‹๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฉ๐™›๐™ค๐™ก๐™ž๐™ค ๐™ˆ๐™ค๐™ซ๐™š๐™จ The portfolio's biggest drag this month came from concentrated positions in high-beta tech names. $SPGI (S&P Global Inc), $MSFT (Microsoft) weighed heavily. My short NSDQ100 position was a slight offset but since this month was a concentrated negative month for SAAS heavy sector, it did not provide enough cushion. On the bright side, $ASML (ASML Holding NV) continued to be the standout performer, validating my thesis from December. Since I have lot of cash sitting in my portfolio, I think this SAAS bloodbath is providing great opportunity to add into quality names. I am mostly looking into cyber security names like PANW and CRWD and big tech names like Amazon and Microsoft. ๐™๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก ๐™๐™๐™ค๐™ช๐™œ๐™๐™ฉ๐™จ February was a humbling month - the market punished growth and tech precisely where the portfolio has its highest conviction. However, I remain committed to the core thesis. Current positions dragging the most are longer-duration growth names that I believe are being unfairly punished in this AI fear driven market. I'll continue holding and selectively adding on further weakness. Technically, my SPX500 target of 7,200โ€“7,400 remains intact. We may need one more flush before the next leg higher as the market digests tariff uncertainty and Fed policy and especially US-Iran war. It seems monday will be good day to add to some of the names if market reacts aggressively negative to the Iran war headlines. Thanks for reading! Happy to answer any questions below.
