📊 Weekly Update | Sniper Strategy Hi all 👋 A more constructive week overall, with markets starting to stabilise after the recent volatility — and the portfolio beginning to reflect that shift. ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ 📉 Macro backdrop (what’s been driving things) The last few weeks have been dominated by a classic macro-driven risk adjustment: • Sticky inflation data → keeps pressure on rates • Ongoing geopolitical tension → adds uncertainty (particularly around energy markets) • Market positioning → fast rotation between risk-on / risk-off What’s interesting is that we’re seeing unusual correlations: → Gold selling off alongside equities → Defensive stocks (MCK, staples) getting hit → Energy volatility increasing unpredictability That’s not typical — and usually signals liquidity and positioning shifts, not fundamental breakdown. ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ 🔁 Portfolio positioning (important update) Over the past week, I’ve made a few small but deliberate adjustments: • ❌ Removed CVX (energy exposure) → Energy has become increasingly driven by geopolitics rather than fundamentals → Harder to model, higher unpredictability • 📈 Slight increase to BTC allocation → Leaning into long-term asymmetric upside → Still within controlled risk limits • ⚖️ Minor rebalancing across positions → Keeping the portfolio aligned with the core Sniper framework: * High conviction growth ($BTC) * Low-volatility compounder ($MCK) * Structural themes (AI via $NVDA (NVIDIA Corporation), defence via $ITA (iShares US Aerospace & Defense ETF)) * Hedge ($GLD) This isn’t a major shift — it’s fine-tuning the engine, not changing direction. ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ 📊 Performance context • YTD still holding positive • Recent drawdown driven mostly by macro compression, not strategy breakdown • Risk score remains controlled The key thing to understand: 👉 This is exactly the type of environment the strategy is designed for Not to avoid volatility entirely — …but to manage it while staying positioned for the upside. ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ 🧠 Strategy reminder The Sniper Strategy is built on: • Rotation, not reaction • Positioning ahead of cycles, not chasing moves • Blending asymmetric upside (BTC) with stabilisers Short term = noise Medium term = positioning Long term = compounding ⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻ 💬 Final thoughts We’re still in a macro-heavy environment, and that can create some messy price action. But underneath that: • BTC is holding relatively strong • Quality equities are stabilising • Portfolio structure remains intact These are the periods where discipline matters most. The plan for 2026 was always to try and end the year positive and not the usual 4 year cycle draw down. So far, that is holding despite BTC dropping more than 40% from the high in October 2025, and Gold and defensive also getting hit hard. Stay patient 👍 — Matt (Capimatt)
