Weekly Update 🟢 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗬𝗧𝗗: +2.86% 🟢 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝟮𝗬: +61.14% (Since Jan 2024) Hi everyone. While the core topic of this week was around CES and all the innovation seen there, we're also seeing how Google and Microsoft move into AI-commerce, a market that can be many times more profitable than e-commerce. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 🔹 $GOOG (Alphabet) introduced the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) and announced buy buttons coming to Gemini and AI-powered Search experiences, with early retail partners including Shopify, Walmart, Target, Wayfair, and Etsy. The stated goal is a common standard so AI agents can move from discovery to checkout (and even post-purchase) without each retailer building one-off integrations. While the markets were selling off Google because of AI, I kept insisting that AI is going to be multiple times more profitable than traditional search. I believe this is one of the first steps towards the future of AI advertising. 🔹 $MSFT (Microsoft) + $PYPL (PayPal Holdings): Microsoft launched Copilot Checkout in the US on Copilot.com, enabling in-chat purchasing with checkout handled through partners, including PayPal. For PayPal, the key point is distribution: it plugs into a new commerce surface where both discovery and payment happen inside the assistant. 🔹 $AAPL (Apple) + $JPM (JPMorgan Chase & Co): Apple announced JPMorgan Chase will become the issuer of Apple Card and will acquire the program from Goldman Sachs. 🔹 $AMZN (Amazon.com Inc) used CES to push Alexa+ beyond devices via Alexa.com, plus a refreshed Fire TV experience and broader Alexa+ integrations. This looks like a distribution and engagement play aimed at making Alexa+ a more central interface. 🔹 $INTC (Intel) + $AMD (Advanced Micro Devices Inc): CES had a clear theme: on-device AI and AI PCs. Intel showcased its Core Ultra Series 3 platform with broad OEM coverage, and AMD highlighted new AI chips plus updated client processors, keeping pressure on the AI compute roadmap across client and data center.
