These are two heavyweights in many portfolios โ€” mine included โ€” and could set the tone for the rest of this earnings season. Last week, $NFLX (Netflix, Inc.) kicked things off for tech โ€” they beat expectations on revenue and earnings, posted solid subscriber growth, and even raised full-year guidance. What happend with the share price? The stock still dropped. Why? Margins and high expectations. When youโ€™re priced for perfection, even good isnโ€™t good enough. A classic case of strong fundamentals being overshadowed by valuation concerns. Now back to today: What Iโ€™m watching with Google: Theyโ€™ve been on fire with ad growth rebounding and AI rolling out across products. Expectations are high. If they can beat and raise guidance again, that should provide momentum for continued price moves higher. โšก Teslaโ€™s going to be interesting: Itโ€™s been a tough year on the EV side, and expectations are actually lower this time. But if they can surprise on margins, give solid robo-taxi updates, or even just show theyโ€™re steering through the slowdown well โ€” that might be enough to shift sentiment. Meanwhile, zooming out... The broader market is still on a winning streak. The $SPX500 just had its 11th record high for the year, and so far, about ๐Ÿด๐Ÿฑ% of companies have beaten earnings expectations โ€” that's above the usual average. Macro-wise, inflation seems under control, jobs data has held up, and even global tensions havenโ€™t derailed investor optimism (yet). Thereโ€™s definitely a โ€œrisk-onโ€ feel to the market right now โ€” so as always we should expect a healthy pullback at some point. ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜…๐˜? If Google and Tesla both deliver tonight, we might see even more momentum in the market overall. But if either slips, expect a potential pullback on some technology-related stocks. Either way, Iโ€™m staying focused on the long-term fundamentals of the companies I hold. Earnings day price movements are mostly just noise, but can be an opportunity for those with patience. Best, Reinhardt
