Dear fellow investors, Firstly, my thoughts go out to those who have died, been injured or displaced in conflicts. While the conflict in Iran increases some risks in the short term, I evaluate that it is an overall risk reducer. For decades, Iran has sponsored chaos, division, and terrorism worldwide. Good regime change in Iran could put the democracies and allies of the world in a much safer position overall. Instead of having Iran as an ally of our strategic rivals - they can be our ally. I started planning for this conflict many years ago by reading up on the history of Iran, carefully analysing every known Iranian military base, mountain pass, etc. one by one. This was also partially, to evaluate how safe I would be in the United Arab Emirates in case of war. (it turns out: very safe). Currently, the world economy is in a relatively good place. And on top of that, the AI revolution is likely about to massively increase productivity across different sectors, just like it's already done in programming. There is, unfortunately, no guarantee that a successful military campaign will also lead to a wonderful new government in Iran. There was good progress in diplomatic talks between the UAE and Iran before the conflict. Now we will never know, if such diplomatic talks could have worked out. For our portfolio, we're largely independent of Middle Eastern oil flows directly. We have significant investments in other energy sources, such as US natural gas. We also have sufficient investments in defense, gold mines and other assets that can perform better in some negative scenarios. So we can be ok in many situations where most of the market would not be. So far in 2026, the S&P 500 is quite flat at just a 0.2% gain, while our portfolio is up by 6%. Quite the outperformance. I don't expect there will be massive changes to the portfolio based on the developments in Iran, except for potential new lessons about what might or might not work in terms of future defense products, some local stocks, and hopefully one day new investment opportunities on the Tehran Stock Exchange. Best regards from the United Arab Emirates, Jeppe Kirk Bonde
