This is to explain to you all what I look for in a stock, where the company is currently at financially and why it is in the portfolio. ๐™๐™ค๐™ง ๐™ฉ๐™๐™ค๐™จ๐™š ๐™ค๐™› ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช ๐™ฌ๐™๐™ค ๐™˜๐™ช๐™ง๐™ง๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™ก๐™ฎ ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™ฎ ๐™ข๐™š, ๐™ฌ๐™๐™–๐™ฉ ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™ฎ ๐™ž๐™จ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ก๐™ก๐™š๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™ค๐™› ๐™—๐™ช๐™จ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™š๐™จ๐™จ๐™š๐™จ ๐™ฌ๐™š ๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™ฃ, so its good for you all to understand the logic behind why we own each of those businesses. I thought I would start with our largest position so far, $PLUS.L (PLUS 500 LTD) The most common question I get regarding positions like this, why are you still holding, why not sell and realise the profit? Well good companies are hard to find. I am a strong believer in buying a great business and holding long term. I only ever sell a stock if the underlying fundamentals have declined, the price has appreciated to a ridiculous level, or I find another great stock that I would like to add to the portfolio and need to raise some capital. But for now, I will continue to hold plus 500 for the long term. The company has a great financial story. ๐™‰๐™ค ๐™™๐™š๐™—๐™ฉ - I love this. It is easy for a company to be stable and offer value to the shareholders if it has no debt! $๐Ÿด๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ ๐™ˆ๐™ž๐™ก๐™ก๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™ž๐™ฃ ๐™˜๐™–๐™จ๐™ - Who doesn't love money in the bank? It shows a safety net, the opportunity to invest in the business and the chance to pay the shareholders. ๐™๐™š๐™ซ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ช๐™š ๐™ค๐™› $๐Ÿณ๐Ÿต๐Ÿฎ ๐™ˆ๐™ž๐™ก๐™ก๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ - High and consistent revenue - Roughly 25% of market cap ๐™€๐˜ฝ๐™„๐™๐˜ผ - Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and Amortization - $๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿด ๐™ˆ๐™ž๐™ก๐™ก๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ, This is essentially the profit of the business, it is a nice amount of money, often finding its way back the shareholders through dividends and share buybacks ๐™€๐˜ฝ๐™„๐™๐˜ผ ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ง๐™œ๐™ž๐™ฃ - ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฐ% - This is very important. Basically what % of the income ends up as profit. The higher the number, the greater the safety net. The more a business can afford increased in costs or a decrease in revenue and remain profitable. ๐Ÿฎ - A great simple ratio, For each dollar of profit, what do we pay for the company? With the current stock market highs, its hard to find great business under 20. (Dividends + Share buybacks) As a shareholder, I love to the see the combination of both share buy backs and dividends, it shows the company is performing well and giving back to shareholders. My long term goal on Etoro is build a collection of great companies, who continue to make money regardless of any market conditions or political environments. This will offer long term capital growth a nice steady income stream. The image below has been made through ChatGPT, just summarising the data above.
