📊 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 / 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 Dear Copiers & Followers, With February upon us, I thought I would write a 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙮 𝙪𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚 post as always... 📈 January was a positive month for the market, with the $SPX500 recording a +1.59% gain, despite a negative last week of the month. 𝗨𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 the portfolio did not perform as well this month, seeing a minor -0.27% loss, with one of the notable underperformers being $VALE (Vale SA-ADR) , in part due to the failure of a dam and the resulting fine. While negative, this minor loss is not particularly concerning in the grand scheme, and we 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, including $SWKS (Skyworks Solutions), $MOS (Mosaic Co) as we seek to 𝗿𝗲-𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁. Last month also saw the release of a number of 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀, leading to some volatility in the markets, which is likely to continue into the month of February given the continuation of earnings season. $KCR.HE (Konecranes Oyj), a component of our portfolio, saw a pleasant 6.74% gain today on the back of its 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, with revenue beating expectations, bringing our investment in the company up to +𝟳𝟲.𝟱𝟯% 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁. January also saw a number of 𝙙𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙖𝙮𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 from shares in the portfolio, including $ASO (Academy Sports and Outdoors Inc.) $FITB (Fifth Third Bancorp) and 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙮 $RITM (New Residential Investment Corp) As regards any specific 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙤, we: ◾ Took 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 on 𝟭/𝟮 of our investment in $FAF (First American Financial Corp) (𝟭𝟭.𝟳𝟳% 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁) ◾ 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 a new position in $SWKS ◾ 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 a new position in $MGY (Magnolia Oil & Gas Corp) ◾ 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 a new position in $MOS ◾ 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 a new position in $GGB (Gerdau SA-ADR) 🔍 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 February... ◾ February will see the 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻, with big names such as $NVDA (NVIDIA Corporation) releasing their earning reports. As always, this could lead to significant volatility depending on the performance of the companies and the consequent reactions from the market. ◾ We are also expecting 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 from: $C (Citigroup) , $NRG (NRG Energy Inc) , and $PBR (Petroleo Brasileiro SA Petrobras-ADR) . To end off, I received an email today about 𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗼 '𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯' 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟯+ 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁.
