United Kingdom
Hi everyone, I wanted to share my personal thoughts on the inflation data from the US and UK that has been released this week. If you have been following the news, does this make you more of a bullish or bearish investor on markets? In the US, CPI increased 2.9% year over year in August. In July’s, the CPI figure was at 2.7%. Core inflation in August was at 3.1%, showing that price pressures remain broad-based and not to specific segments. If we compare July and August, both headline and core rose around 0.3%. In the UK, inflation remains higher. Headline CPI was 3.8% in August, unchanged from July, while CPIH came in at 4.1%. Food and services continue to drive the increases, though housing-related costs are starting to ease a little. These figures give us a clear indication that our portfolio should stay focus towards resilient companies with pricing power and sectors less sensitive to interest rate swings. If you want to know more about CPI figure and what it means for the markets, I have created a post last year about it. etoro.tw/3Iy4RHZ Have a nice weekend, Guillaume Serdan
