Our portfolio ended the week in a neutral stance. A lot happened over the past few days, letβs take a closer look.
This week, we had the highly anticipated rate cut from the Fed, but with a surprise twist from Jerome Powell, who stated that another cut at the next meeting is far from certain. This left markets in a bit of turmoil, though Powellβs caution is understandable since inflation remains quite sticky.
Meanwhile, the meeting between Trump and Xi finally took place. Among the key points:
-The U.S. agreed to reduce tariffs on Chinese goods from 57% down to 47%.
-China announced a temporary easing of restrictions on rare earth exports for one year.
Even though this represents a step forward, I believe the situation between the U.S. and China is still far from resolved. It remains an ever-evolving scenario that can shift overnight, as weβve seen many times before.
Remember, weβre investing for the long term, staying informed is important, but staying on track is even more so. Donβt let short-term noise influence your long-term perspective.
