End of October 2022 Update (total holding +/- shown in brackets) Technology Services. $NFLX (Netflix, Inc.) (-10%) had a second strong month, increasing by over 23%, moving us closer to break-even once more. Consultancy $ACN (Accenture Plc) (+12%) gained over 10% and is almost back to where it started September. eLearning provider $UDMY (Udemy Inc) (-26%) finally had a strong month showing growth over 20%. Electronic Technology. Amongst several winners in October and somewhat expectedly $LMT (Lockheed Martin Corporation) (+12%) shined brightest, gaining just under 26%. Unsurprisingly in this zone $NOC (Northrop Grumman Corp) (+25%) took second place with more than a 16% uptick. Third place with an almost 16% increase goes to $RTX (Raytheon-Technologies) (0%). Retail Trade. Our largest holding in this sector, $BYND (Beyond Meat Inc.) (-80%) finally began a recovery of 10% in October. With strong shorting continuing the future is far from assured, however. Our second largest holding $OCDO.L (Ocado Group PLC) (-53%) faired even better, ending the month up by over 33%. How much of this is down to Nigella Lawson’s help is uncertain! Consumer Services. The laggard $CINE.L (-82%) gained over 48% in October where a few good news items happened such as securing new funding, reducing debt and associated interest payments, and paying its various landlords. At the other end of the lockdown-losers scale $JDW.L (J D Wetherspoon PLC) (-44%) gained over 2%. With a net gain of almost 3% October has shown positive movements in much of the portfolio. Unlike September when we mirrored the S&P 500, this month we have outperformed and trebled its gains.
