The AI Underdog might just bite... I’ve just rebalanced my AI exposure 📊 I reduced $GOOGL (Alphabet Inc Class A) $AMD (Advanced Micro Devices Inc) and $NVDA (NVIDIA Corporation) and redirected the resulting ~10% of my equity into $SMCI (Super Micro Computer, Inc) making it my largest position in the semiconductor and AI infrastructure space. Why $SMCI? ➡️ Fair value vs price gap In my estimate $SMCI trades below a reasonable intrinsic value range when I look at revenue growth AI server demand and what I believe could be more normalized margins over time. To me the upside is visible without relying on hype. ➡️ Historical precedent Fact: In early 2024 $SMCI ran to extreme levels on AI infrastructure demand. My interpretation is that the move also showed what happens when demand narrative and momentum align. Today the stock is priced as if that story is permanently broken. ➡️ Reputation reset phase Fact: After the 2024 run the stock repriced hard as trust was damaged around reporting and accounting concerns. My view is that the reset was brutal but probably necessary and that the pressure since then increases the odds of cleaner execution going forward. I think personally they may have learned their lesson by now. Demand pressure now has to go somewhere! ⚡️ In my opinion AI compute demand keeps accelerating. Hyperscalers enterprises and cloud providers are expanding capacity and I believe this can continue for years. Many large players like $NVDA $AMD $MU (Micron Technology, Inc.) and $GOOGL already price in a lot of that. My thesis is that $SMCI is one of the few still discounted and I think a big reason is the historical trust issues. My thesis is simple 🎯 Either intrinsic value gets recognized as reputation improves or another demand-driven rerating happens similar in direction to 2024. I think the circumstances are increasingly set for that. Risk is real. Execution matters. Trust has to be rebuilt. But to me risk-reward looks asymmetric in this classic from hated to respected setup in a sector that I believe can see massive growth. ✅ This is not financial advice, but written purely for educational purposes to explain how this setup was analysed.
