Quality Stocks: Is Now the Time to Buy? The first half of 2025 has not been kind to quality stocks. Despite their reputation for delivering stable, long-term returns, companies with strong balance sheets, consistent cash flow, and high profitability have lagged behind the broader market. In 2024, the S&P 500 posted a return of nearly 24%, yet 360 of its constituents underperformed that benchmark. The rally was largely driven by high-growth tech names like Nvidia and Meta Platforms, while traditional quality stocks fell out of favor. But history tells a different story. Quality stocks have often outperformed during uncertain times and after market downturns. Many of these companies now appear undervalued, according to analysts. Microsoft, Adobe, and other blue-chip names are scoring high on profitability metrics, but their valuations have become more attractive after a relatively weak stretch.
