There are uncertain times ahead – and that’s the way it has always been in stock markets. I began my career during a recession in the late 1980s and I was CEO-Chairman of a dot-com company through the 1990s tech bubble and the subsequent crash in the 2000s. I’ve always been invested in the markets since the 1990s including every boom, bubble and crash. I’ve learned to approach markets with the understanding that they can drop or pop at any moment, and I’ve learned to stay invested regardless – my only changes have been in altering asset allocations. On eToro I’ve seen copiers close their copy during a drawdown realising losses when if they had held onto their copy instead they would have enjoyed the market beating returns this portfolio achieved over the last 3+ years. If you haven’t read it already, please take a look at the post last week that outlines my strategy to deal with the market continuing to rise and what I’ll do if it falls or even crashes. If you think my strategy is reasonable consider setting your Copy-Stop-Loss to allow for a 25% drawdown to have a good chance of getting the same future returns as this portfolio. Do keep in mind that just because this portfolio has outperformed in the past there is no guarantee it will continue to do so in the future. The post is at etoro.tw/3TcPOp8 The only transaction this week was trimming our $RKLB (Rocket Lab USA Inc.) holdings by closing a position that we’d held for over 27 months for a gain of 20.49%. This left us with an end-of-week cash balance of 32.28% ready to be invested as soon as opportunities arise - www.etoro.com/people/space-investor/portfolio/chart/allocation 19 of our 28 holdings had gains this week. 🟢 $SPIR (Spire Global Inc) gained 6.32% after the company released an update on their financing situation after having delayed their SEC 10-Q filing to review their accounting practices. They had previously indicated their accounting issues may have left them in breach of their finance terms with Blue Torch Capital. They have now signed a Waiver and Agreement with Blue Torch. Although they’ve had to repay $10 million early, and a 3.5% fee, this has resolved that uncertainty - ir.spire.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/233/spire-global-signs-waiver-and-amendment-to-financing Earlier in the week they released an update on their delayed 10-Q filing and announced winning contracts from the US Air Force, and NASA as well as a grant from the UK Space Agency - ir.spire.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/232/spire-global-provides-update-on-new-contracts-and-revenue 🟢 $NOKIA.HE (Nokia Corp.) was up 6.08%. The price jumped on Thursday after Bloomberg reported that $SMSN.L (Samsung Electronics Co Ltd - GDR) was interested in buying Nokia’s mobile network assets - www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-08-29/nokia-mobile-networks-assets-said-to-draw-interest-from-samsung Nokia then announced that they had nothing to announce in response to the ‘rumour’ - www.nokia.com/about-us/news/releases/2024/08/29/nokia-comments-on-trading-activity-of-its-stock/ The stock price didn’t drop back down suggesting that the market was optimistic a deal will be done and that it will be good for shareholders.
