It remains exciting. The rating agency Fitch has withdrawn the coveted top credit rating from the USA. The rating was lowered by one step from AAA to AA+, Fitch announced on Tuesday. This brings Fitch into line with rival S&P, which had already lowered the USA's rating to AA+ in 2011. The third leading rating agency, Moody's, remains at the highest level. In Asia, share prices of tech companies in particular were under pressure, and futures in the USA also fell recently. Fundamentally, however, the move is unlikely to have any negative consequences for the time being.
