Being Right vs. Risk Management (Q3 Portfolio Update) In portfolio management, there is a massive difference between a right thesis and a right entry. In Q2, we positioned for an escalation in the Middle East and a breakdown in the US / Iran MOU. The market initially lagged, triggering a 10% drawdown from our portfolio peak. Because risk management beats ego every single time, we cut and adjusted our key holdings rather than fighting the tape. Today, as conflict in the Strait of Hormuz escalates again, the thesis has materialised—but protecting capital during the lag was the correct tactical play. Where we stand for Q3: Market dynamics are shifting fast. Our portfolio strategy is built to pivot between two primary engines: Energy/Commodities (geopolitical hedges) and Technology (secular growth). We are currently overweight Tech, but we are keeping our asset-allocation trigger finger itchy. If tensions rise further, we will aggressively rotate back into energy-related equities.
